Quark-hadron duality and Q evolution of the GDH integral in the HERMES experiment
نویسنده
چکیده
First results on quark-hadron duality in the spin sector from the HERMES experiment are reported in the range 1.2 ≤ Q ≤ 12 GeV and 1 ≤ W 2 ≤ 4 GeV. A complete set of measurements of the generalised GDH integrals for the deuteron, proton and neutron is also shown in the same Q range and in the full W 2 range. Hypercentral Constituent Quark Model and Isospin for the Baryon Static Properties
So far the static properties of hadrons have been introduced in various models. The static properties of hadrons (charge radius, magnetic moment, etc.) are useful for understanding the quark structure of hadron. In this work we have introduced the hypercentral constituent quark and isospin dependent potentials. Here constituent quarks interact with each other via a potential in which we have ta...
متن کاملMeasurement of the Q-evolution of the Bjorken integral and extraction of an effective strong coupling constant at low Q
Since the generalized GDH sum is, in principle, calculable at any Q, it can be used to study the transition from the partonic to hadronic degrees of freedom of the strong force. However, the validity domains for chiral perturbation theory (χPT) at low Q and pQCD calculations at higher Q used to calculate the GDH sum do not overlap. The Bjorken sum is the flavor non-singlet part of the GDH sum. ...
متن کاملLocal Quark-hadron Duality in Electron Scattering
We present some recent developments in the study of quark-hadron duality in structure functions in the resonance region. To understand the workings of local duality we introduce the concept of truncated moments, which are used to describe the Q dependence of specific resonance regions within a QCD framework.
متن کاملMeasurement of Polarized Quark Distributions at Hermes
Preliminary results for inclusive and semi-inclusive hadron asymmetries are presented for 3 He and 1 H targets, measured in 1995 and 1996 at the HERMES experiment. Under the assumption of spin-independent fragmentation, these asymmetries may be used to extract the polarizations of individual quark avors. The extraction requires a knowledge of unpolarized parton distributions , an understanding ...
متن کاملStudies of Nucleon Spin Structure at HERMES
The HERMES experiment studies the spin structure of the nucleon using polarized semi-inclusive deep-inelastic positron scattering and polarized quasi-real photoproduction. Previous analyses of nucleon spin structure combine inclusive deepinelastic scattering data and measured hyperon decay constants assuming SU(3)flavor symmetry; asymmetries in the processes studied at HERMES may constrain nucl...
